The Lucky One

I fell in love all over again. It doesn't matter what he does, soldier or high school basketball player. I love Zac Efron. People can hate on him all they want, but his part in the Lucky One, was perfect. He was able to bring one of my favorite characters, from one of my favorite books to life. As for the woman who played Beth, I will give her credit for looking the part described by Nicholas Sparks but she was really awkward.

The movie as a whole was good. I really appreciate how well they stuck to the book plot. They made Logan the perfect gentleman, that every woman would love to fall in love with, just as Nicholas Sparks did in the book. And Keith, was a perfect jerk, that every woman fears of falling in love with, just like the book. And the little boy was perfectly cast to play Ben, how could you not love the little boy who plays the violin and bets Zac Efron in chess.

The book and movie are filled with emotion from start to finish. The Lucky One is not only one of my favorite Nicholas Sparks books, but one of favorite books of all time because it is one of the most captivating love stories told. Logan plays the perfect hero and Beth is the perfect damsel in distress.

I'm a sucker for a good romantic chick flick. What can I say I have always been a hopeless romantic. I think thats why as a little girl I watched Cinderella over and over. I don't know what it is that draws me in, over and over again but I love a good love story. The problem is... they make us think that this is a picture of reality, but its not. Sure, I love to dream of the perfect romance as much as the next girl but in the past year I have become extremely cynical. I think its like everything else that is suppose to be awesome, that really just leave us disappointed. We have tendencies to build up these things that are suppose to be magical and in reality they are just ordinary. Like News Years Eve, its suppose to be this magical, fun-filled night, when in reality its usually just another night.

I think its the moments that we don't build up in our minds, that turn out to be the most spectacular. Its the ordinary that become extraordinary. And thats one of main themes of The Lucky One- Logan finds a picture of a woman in the middle of a war zone, a little ordinary photo, that ends up saving his life and changing the course of his life and happiness. The Lucky One teaches us that sometimes we need to look past our imaginations and choose to follow our destinies that are found in the little pleasures of life. So many times, people are always expecting that the bigger and better is the best. We want great and expensive gifts when in reality its the little things that count the most. Like, for my birthday last year, my boyfriend had given me a letter, a simple piece of paper. My friends asked me if I was upset that all he gave me was a piece of paper? The truth was no I wasn't. I cherished that piece of paper. I didn't want an extravagant gift.  Or like the watch the grandmother left me. All I have left of my grandmother is that watch. Most people wouldn't think it was a big deal. But, I cherish that watch.

See we want extraordinary moments and things that change our lives when its the little things that mean the most. These perfectly imperfect moments or even challenges  that define who we are, make us stronger and give us unsurmountable joy. Don't overlook the little things to find the big things. Don't stress about things that really will not matter. Appreciate the people and moments God gives us, not the things he doesn't.
